All skiing outside marked and prepared slopes is called off-piste skiing and is at your own risk. Anyone travelling in ungroomed terrain should have good knowledge of avalanche danger assessment. Follow signs and markings and stay updated on indicated avalanche danger and current avalanche information.

Examples of great freeride areas
You can easily reach the off-piste areas directly from the lifts, both on the eastern and western sides of Laxfjället. If you want to experience completely untouched areas, we recommend that you go down on the north side and head back up for another run.
BARE MOUNTAINS AND FOREST TERRAIN
Western Mountain
On the west side of the cable car you will find several different lines, with varying degrees of difficulty. You start on the bare mountain and finish down in the birch forest above the lower part of Byggi. The longest route leads further west, down to Getviken. From here you will need crampons or a car/scooter to get back to the system.
To the east of the cable car you will find some gentler runs. Perfect for our youngest and less experienced off piste skiers.
OWN FAVOURITE TRACKS
Norra Fjället - Kanahobben
From Anjaliften you need a short walk to get to perhaps the best run in the mountain! Aim across the tarn towards the peak behind. When you're done admiring the views of both Norra and Södra storfjället, Ryfjället, Jofjället, Artfjället, and the Norwegian mountains to the far west, aim for the gully below you straight north. Follow the eastern side of the ravine (skiers right) all the way down to the lake. The further east you go, the steeper the slope! When you get down to the lake, you'll have a nice walk back on your skis! If you follow the shore eastwards, you'll find a snowmobile track that goes all the way up to Mickelspasset!
STEEP AND CHALLENGING
East Mountain
Ingemar lifts
The area between the lift and Stigsvängen offers varied and fun forest skiing. Even experienced off-piste skiers can find their challenges here! You will also find some nice turns in the forest area between Ingemarbacken and Staffans. From here you can continue down to the left, into the forest between Anjabacken and Ringbranten/Parken.
tyre lifts
East of the lift you will find the most challenging forest skiing. For the daredevil there are some ”drops” of varying heights! Our steepest off-piste slope, Granbacken, runs parallel to the lift. On both sides of the slope you will find nice, steep forest skiing. Lilians, is the second off piste slope starting at the top. Between Lilians and Mickelspasset you will find nice forest skiing with a little easier terrain. If you choose to ski west of Lilians, you get more challenging skiing and ”drops”.
On the west side of the lift, the most challenging runs are closest to the lift, between the lift and Anjabacken. On the other side of Anjabacken, the skiing is a little easier, but still worth a visit for those who are experienced!

Safety in the mountains

SAFETY IN THE MOUNTAINS
Avalanche safety
Always respect the indicated avalanche danger and make sure you have the necessary knowledge to go outside marked areas and to assess avalanche danger. Remember that in terrain with more than 20-30 degrees of slope, the risk is always present, even if others have skied in the area.
